Intensive and Specialized Services


For people who require intensive, long-term or comprehensive services and supports, there are a variety of programs available in Ontario. Some people with serious mental illness can benefit from programs that offer a comprehensive range of services. Many of these services offer support with housing, work and income as well as medication treatment.

Intensive services include assertive community treatment (ACT), intensive case management, and hospitalization.

How do I get intensive services?

Intensive services can be accessed through community mental health agencies and hospitals. Some programs allow you to apply yourself while others require that you have a health care professional refer you. There are waiting lists for many services.
